The Pacific Crest Trail
So what exactly is the PCT? And why in the heck would Gabe want to go walk 2,650 miles...alone? That was 2020 yall....he's not alone this time!
Basically, its just a really long walk through California, Oregon and Washington. He will begin at the Southern Terminus, just south of Campo, California.
When he finishes, 5 months later, he will be in British Columbia, Canada...and I hope to meet him there. -2025 update: the hikers aren't allowed into Canada anymore (even though Gabe is a Canadian citizen) - so he will finish at the border in the USA.
BUT WHY???
What 19 (now 24) year old wants to go hiking from one end of the country to the other...alone (with his best friend)...for 5 months?

I try to think back to when it all happened, when the obsession began, but I can't even pinpoint the moment in time. When I was his age, I had already been to work in Mexico and in Paraguay, so I suppose his sense of adventure shouldn't surprise me...but it does.

If you ask him why, he just says that he wants to... because he can. He says that he's sure there will never be another time in his life when he can take off for 5 months and just hike and he's probably right.

Gabe is not one for deep answers or lots of words...but he knows where he wants to go.
